Our Daily Bath Time Routine and Skincare Solution for Dry Skin
Every evening, I bathe my twins, affectionately nicknamed our Apple Mango twins. However, by morning, their skin often seems dry again. During the newborn phase, we used body lotion on their faces, but our nanny suggested using a dedicated facial cream to prevent dryness. Their skin can get red and irritated quickly, and it's not just a matter of moisturizing; it needs proper care. My own skin is quite dry, requiring rich body cream even in summer, and my little ones are showing similar skin traits, with dry patches on their arms and legs. The texture is thicker compared to the body lotion, yet it spreads beautifully. Lastly, the lotion! Summer Must-haves for Grandma's House
Love my mom, but sometimes she can be a little too good of a Grammy (meaning she lets the kids do whatever they want lol). So, when we head over for fam dinner (which is often) or if I leave her with the kids for an evening, there are some KEY things I arm her home with to ensure easy oversight and not too many tantrums! Grosmimi Cup – if you haven’t heard this from me already, this cup is THE BEST. It is leak-free so it does not spill all over Grammy’s very luxe rug or un-baby-proofed home. I have multiples of this cup because it is just that good and my LO loves it lol. Extra set of clothing – because we know when our LO gets messy, he becomes OCD. We love this from Baby Rabbit – we like to keep one or two sets just in case my child decides to shower in spaghetti at dinner. It’s also perfect because we don’t have to worry about Grammy putting him in something scratchy and uncomfortable (a sure fire way to make him fussy). Teether – we are trying to ween our LO off the paci, so this Teether helps reduce some major temper tantrums. They come in a ton of animal options and colors – which double as a great toy for you LO. I also love that I don’t have to worry about bacteria gathering while they are at Grammy’s house because it is so easy to clean! Lovey – ok this is our version of a Lovey because our LO seems to gravitate towards these super soft hankies by Bamboobebe. They are $13 for a pack of 5 or $20 for a pack of 10 – which makes it really easy to have on-hand anywhere and everywhere when our LO needs some comfort. Allergy Season Life Savers
Snotty faces. Raw noses. Dry red and sometimes bloody patches behind the knees, back and everywhere in between. It’s tough being a baby with allergies and scary/frustrating as a mom when you see these ailments affect your child and have the urgent need to find solutions to keep all in check (if not at bay). Here are go-tos (at the direction of my doctor) which help my LO combat the dreadful repercussions of allergies. Morning and night I massage him with healing ointment and sometimes layer it up with a moisturizing cream. When his skin gets really bad, I apply a prescription hydrocortisone cream before ointment and right before I put him in his Babyrabbit PJs (to avoid him touching it with his fingers / getting it in his mouth). I typically shower him every other day (he is in daycare… and it gets pretty germy), but during high allergy seasons, I extend it to 2 days. Setting Your Husband Up for Success w/LOs
For all you mamas (and dadas) w/LOs, you know when one parent has a night out, meal & bedtime can be daunting for those at-home. So thought I’d share what I am doing today to set my husband up for success when it comes to my 18-month-old (see below… he’s cute … but can be quite the devil!). Setting out PJs – Does this happen to anyone else? Whenever my husband puts my LO to bed, I find him in the morning with the same outfit as the day before (jeans included!). So, I thought I’d nip it in the bud this time by laying out PJs along the crib railing. One of my new faves is by BabyRabbit ($29) – they are super soft. My LO has a serious case of eczema (especially behind the knees) and I find these are less irritating than other PJs we’ve tried.
